We’re big fans of getting out and enjoying what our local towns have to offer, and among our favorite times with friends and neighbors is enjoying coffee and cocktails in Apex, Cary and beyond. This week we’re focusing on Apex; take a peek at our recent Cary spotlight, too.
One of the best things about living in Apex, NC is the availability of local products. Whether it’s locally-roasted coffee beans, brewed beer, or distilled spirits, we can enjoy beverages that originate right here in our state. It doesn’t matter if you prefer coffee or a cocktail, there is a destination that will deliver the flavors and ambience you want, right close to home!
YOUR MORNING COFFEE
Let’s start with some energizing locations for a good cup of coffee in the morning (or whenever you need a java jolt). With local roasters providing the beans, fresh is the most accurate way to describe the tastiest cups of java imaginable. And of course, it helps when there’s an array of mouth-watering treats to choose from, too…
Common Grounds Coffee House & Desserts: 219 N Salem Street
Open 7 am daily, Common Grounds Coffee House & Dessert is nestled in the Historic District of Apex. Great coffee plus sweet and savory treats come with a warm welcome and friendly service. You may also enjoy browsing their abundant displays of mugs and gift items. If you’re arriving after breakfast, go ahead and give in to their famous Death By Chocolate Cheesecake—a house specialty.
Wake Oasis / Wake Zone Coffee: 6108 Old Jenks Road / 1750 Olive Chapel Road
With two locations in Apex, Wake Oasis Coffee serves a “cup of joy” brewed with beans roasted in Raleigh. From 7 am, use the drive-through or relax inside for espresso, blended drinks, frozen delights, and iced coffee. The beachy ambience sure adds a summery boost to begin your day.
Bonafide Bakeshop & Cafe: 1232 W. Williams Street
Locally-roasted coffee is even better when there’s a delicious pastry as a sidekick, and Bonafide Bakeshop & Cafe serves them both all day. Enjoy freshly baked goodies like cinnamon rolls and sticky buns with a cup of cappuccino, espresso, or latte from 7 am to 8 pm, daily.
Mustang Charlie’s Diner: 1501 N Salem Street
Not only is Mustang Charlie’s Diner located inside a car dealership, but it serves a full menu of breakfast and lunch items and a delicious cup of coffee. Open at 8:30 am daily, you can get your car serviced at Crossroads Ford while you eat at the home of the famous Trash Plate: fresh ingredients and meats, scrambled with eggs.
First Watch: 1280 W Williams Street
First Watch is open from 7 am to 2:30 pm for coffee, fresh baked items, and amazing breakfasts. Menus are seasonal, and coffee comes with a purpose you can feel happy to get behind: beans in Project Sunrise coffee is sourced from female farmers in the Huila region of Colombia.
BEER AND COCKTAILS
If you’re in the mood for an icy mug of beer or a delicious cocktail, you’ll find Apex home to several personality-filled pubs.
Vicious Fishes Brewery: 1137 Old U.S. 1
